DA NANG (Biz Hub) — Parkson opened its first mall in the central city on January 11, which will offer consumers a new world class shopping experience in fashion, entertainment and lifestyle services.

The opening of the Parkson Vinh Trung Plaza B in Da Nang marks the 10th shopping centre to be opened by Parkson in Viet Nam after similar openings in HCM City, Ha Noi and Hai Phong and is also the first world-class shopping centre to open in Da Nang.

The mall is located in the Vinh Trung Plaza B department store on the Hung Vuong street in the city's downtown and is one of the city's key projects, with its 10,000 sq.m area and total investment capital of VND63 billion (US$3 million).

Tiang Chee Sung, the General Director of Parkson in Viet Nam said: "Parkson thinks the economic development of Da Nang is outstanding and permanent, so we decided to invest in the city at this time."

Parkson Da Nang is expected to report sales of between $12 million and $15 million per year, contributing $1 million to the city's budget and creating nearly 1,000 jobs.

It features an entertainment arena, a play area for children, cafeteria, as well as food courts for local and foreign tourists.

The Vinh Trung Plaza B will also offer to consumers a world class theatre system in the form of the CGV Cinemas and Big C supermarket, which will be accessible for all age groups.

"Da Nang offers all suitable facilities and opportunities for a successful investment with its population of 1 million. It is an ideal destination for Parkson's next journey and will hopefully satisfy all customers in Viet Nam."

Tiang also said retail sales are rapidly growing in Viet Nam and the country's young population and developing market also offer great market potential. — VNS
