Employees of Panasonic Vietnam and thousands of other people took part in the Mottainai Run for charity in Ha Noi organised by Viet Nam Women newspaper to raise funds for unprivileged children, especially orphaned and disabled ones.
The event managed to raise VND10 million (about US430).
Also as part of the event, Panasonic put up a booth ner Hoan Kiem Lake booth to hand out its eco-batteries free in exchange for used batteries.
The exchange has been done by the company since 2016.
It has so far collected nearly 30,000 used batteries with 70 per cent containing heavy metals and given out free batteries in more than 15 provinces.
The programme aims to raise awareness of the use of non-toxic batteries and properly disposing of batteries after use to avoid pollution and affecting human health.
Panasonic was one of the sponsors of the festival.
Mottainai means “extravagance” in Japanese. — VNS
