T’way Air, a low-cost airline based in Seoul, South Korea, has officially launched a new direct flight connecting Da Nang and Daegu, Korea – the company’s third route between Korea and Viet Nam.

The airline’s representative office in Da Nang said it operates five flights each week – on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays – from Da Nang to Daegu with a flight time of six hours and 20 minutes.

The budget airline will use a 189-seat Boeing B737-800 aircraft, with prices starting from US$250 for a return ticket.

This is the second direct route linking Da Nang and Korea after the airline launched the Da Nang-Seoul flight in 2016 with four flights per week.

In 2015, T’way Air also began operating the daily HCM City-Seoul flight, marking a new beginning for Korean low-cost carriers in the Vietnamese market.

The airline also said it plans to open two new direct flights from Da Nang to Pusan and Muan, Korea in order to serve the increasing demands of tourism and investment from Korea.

According to the city’s tourism department, there are 12 flights from Korea to Da Nang every week, carrying an average of 1,500 passengers.

The central city, which is home to a number of heritage sites in the central region, could enable greater co-ordination of tourism services between Jeju Island; Incheon, Seoul; and other localities, including UNESCO-recognised world heritages Phong Nha-Ke Bang in Quang Binh Province, Hue City, Hoi An and My Son in Quang Nam Province.— VNS
