BA RIA-VUNG TAU— Danish container shipping company Maersk Line on Friday launched a new direct service from Việt Nam to the US's east coast.

From Vũng Tàu's Tân Cảng Cái Mép Thị Vải Terminal, it will transport goods to Newark, Charleston, Savannah, and Miami.

A company spokesperson told Việt Nam News that it is the first service between Vũng Tàu and the east coast and would help customers cut costs by reducing the time by three days.

In addition, with this direct service, the company can enhance the competitiveness of Việt Nam's exports to the US, one of its top trade partners.

The export products will include seafood, electronics, apparel, and footwear.

Maersk Line will also offer a direct barge connection to Vung Tau from Phnom Penh in Cambodia.
