Two major hospitals in central Quang Ngai Province have received medical equipment packages worth nearly VND1.7 billion (US$74,300) donated by South Korean Doosan Heavy Industries (Doosan Vina), Chung Ang University, and Community Chest of Korea.

The medical equipment package, including an immunoassay machine system, electrocardiograms, intubations, and infection diagnosis machine, will be used for medical examinations and healthcare at the Quang Ngai provincial General Hospital and Hospital for Women and Children.

The donation is one of many support programmes that Doosan Vina and Korean partners have made aiming to share the burden of the health sector in the province to overcome difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-21.

In 2021, Doosan Vina alone supported VND2.3 billion ($100,000) to purchase medical equipment for the treatment of COVID-19 patients at Quang Ngai’s field hospital number 3 and contributed VND200 million to the provincial epidemic prevention fund.

In 2020, Doosan Vina and Chung Ang University Hospital implemented the technology transfer programme for the medical team of the two hospitals in Quang Ngai and Quang Nam Central General Hospital

A series of charity programmes in recent years were also organised in the province, including free health examinations, free medicine, congenital heart operations, cleft palate operations, cataracts, obstetrics and gynaecology for 25,618 local residents. — VNS
