E-commerce platform Lazada has announced all fresh food orders worth VND50,000 and more in HCM City will be shipped free.

Available until July 26, it is an effort by the company to help consumers fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is also offering a discount of 6 per cent on orders of above VND150,000 to enable people to safely buy groceries during the social distancing period.

It said on July 7 demand for essential goods and fresh foods grew so much that it matched demand for the entire month of July last year.

Expecting demand for these goods to continue to rise, Lazada has been actively working with partners to expand product availability and improve system efficiency.

In terms of logistics, Lazada has taken several steps like raising the number of shippers and encouraging the use of AI technology for deciding delivery routes to make it more efficient.

In addition to increasing supplies and improving delivery efficiency, Lazada also follows the Government's instructions and directives related to the delivery process, especially in places where interaction is prohibited or limited.

The transportation team is separated into shifts, daily medical declarations and health monitoring are mandatory, contactless delivery is done, and the government's 5K guidelines are strictly complied with.

Throughout the day, between shifts, disinfectants are sprayed in warehouses and other infrastructure. — VNS
