India’s budget passenger carrier GoAir plans to add destinations such as Viet Nam’s Ha Noi and Cambodia’s Phnom Penh to its international network by year-end, reported India's largest independent news agency IANS on Sunday.
GoAir's Vice-President (International Operations) Arjun Dasgupta told IANS that the airline was considering further expansion in Southeast Asia and the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation countries.
Dasgupta said that the destinations would be selected with the airline's aircraft range in mind. Currently, the airline operates Airbus A320Neos aircraft, which have an endurance of around six hours of flying time.
Consequent to its expansion plans, the airline has enhanced its fleet size and recently took delivery of its 51st plane. It will be adding at least one aircraft every month.
Recently, GoAir has deployed a number of new international flights to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Muscat, Bangkok, Phuket, Kuwait and the Maldives, in an effort to enhance the airline's presence in Middle Eastern and Southeast Asia countries.
GoAir has served approximately 73.3 million passengers since its establishment. The company aims to reach the figure of 100 million in the next two years. — VNS
