HSBC Viet Nam has appointed a new CEO, Tim Evans, who takes over from Pham Hong Hai.

Evans joined HSBC Group 26 years ago and has held many senior leadership roles across three continents.

He has served as its regional head of commercial banking, international markets, in the Asia-Pacific; regional head of middle market enterprises in the Asia Pacific; regional head of global trade and receivables finance; and the COO of commercial banking in the Middle East and North Africa.

Evans said he and the Viet Nam team would "continue to play HSBC’s part in helping Viet Nam, already one of the world’s most dynamic economies, reach its immense potential.”

Hai, who was the CEO for four and a half years, is joining HSBC Canada as country head of international subsidiary banking.

HSBC, which first opened an office in Viet Nam in 1870, is one of the largest foreign banks in Viet Nam. — VNS
