HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Akihito Ando has been appointed as the general director of Hitachi Asia (Vietnam) Co., Ltd., and he will assume all the responsibilities and duties from April 1, 2014.

He will be responsible for the development and promotion of Hitachi's social innovation business in the country.

Ando will succeed Nobuyuki Nakamura, who will assume the role of department manager in the Heavy Industry Department for Industrial Systems and Solutions Division and Infrastructure Systems General Sales Division of the Infrastructure Systems Company.

"With my overseas business development experience, I look forward to help expand Hitachi's business in Viet Nam. The country's economic growth provides plentiful business opportunities for Hitachi in terms of fulfilling the market demand for social infrastructure products, services, and solutions," he stated.

Ando started working for Hitachi in 1995. Before the appointment, he formerly served as the senior manager of the Asia & Pacific Development Department, Regional Strategies Division, Corporate Sales & Marketing Group, Hitachi Ltd.

Hitachi Asia Ltd., a subsidiary of Japan's Hitachi Group, was established in Singapore in 1989. It has offices in seven countries, including Vietnam, Myanmar, and Indonesia, and its business focuses primarily on information systems, power and industrial systems, research and development, and international procurement.
