Grab, in the coming time, aims to foster positive changes, uplift livelihoods, shape vibrant cities, and drive innovation, affirmed Alejandro Osorio, managing director of Grab Vietnam.

At a ceremony celebrating the the company’s 10th anniversary in Việt Nam, Osorio stressed that: “We envision a future where every Vietnamese has access to better opportunities in the digital economy, and we are committed to accelerating Việt Nam toward that future."

“Our technology has created income opportunities and improved daily life for millions. We see tremendous potential to expand our impact in Việt Nam by aligning with Government socio-economic priorities,” he said.

Having commenced operations in Việt Nam in 2014 with its GrabTaxi service, Grab and its partners now cater to millions of consumers by providing tens of millions of meals and rides each month across the country.

On average, two-wheel driver-partners experienced more than a 30 per cent increase in rides per online hour in 2024 compared to 2014. Since 2018, merchant-partners have seen their average monthly revenue triple through Grab's platform.

To date, more than 200,000 driver-partners have benefited from skill-building opportunities through training courses offered on GrabAcademy. In 2023, the number of driver- and merchant-partners utilising loans from banking partners increased threefold since the service's inception in 2020.

Technological innovation and experimentation have served as the bedrock of Grab's progress. In 2017, Grab established an R&D centre in HCM City to leverage local tech talent, enabling the creation of tailored solutions and the enhancement of user experiences throughout the region.

Looking ahead, Grab will concentrate on three primary areas of focus.

In line with the national agenda for digital transformation, the company aims to accelerate its digital inclusion initiatives by expanding service access to more underserved areas, developing more use cases and improving digital literacy for partners and communities through public and private partnerships.

In addition, in support of Government plans for public infrastructure development, Grab is committed to creating seamless mobility by partnering with municipal authorities to facilitate first-mile and last-mile trips, as well as contributing to sustainability through tree planting projects that help restore natural forests and plastic waste reduction initiatives.

Grab is among the earliest adopters of data science in the region. The company plans to expand its R&D capabilities in Việt Nam, which will play a pivotal role in cultivating local tech expertise.

In celebration of its tenth anniversary, Grab Vietnam has rolled out a wide range of activities starting from August to express gratitude and appreciation to its partners and consumers. These include partner appreciation programmes with attractive prizes and consumer promotions offering numerous rewards. – VNS
