Gamuda Land (HCMC) has put into operation a solar power system at the Celadon Sports & Resort Club at its Celadon City township in the west of HCM City.

It is the first step in an ambitious plan to use sustainable energy solutions for the entire township.

It tied up with Indefol Solar to instal a solar power system with 1677 panels covering an area of 4,800sq.m.

The system generates an average of 84,000kWh per month in summer, which the company said is enough not only to operate the entire five-hectare club and the Gamuda Land (HCMC) office, but also supply to the national grid.

Angus Liew, general director of GamudaLand (HCMC) said: “Gamuda Land is extremely proud to present the first sports complex in HCM City fully operated by solar power. And we will not stop by that. In short-coming time, we will invest more resources to apply this sustainable energy solution to the housing areas in Celadon City, towards making this place a truly autonomous urban township.”

Starting construction in 2009, Celadon City is one of the most prominent world-class townships in HCM City.

Gamuda Land is the real estate development arm of Gamuda Berhad (Malaysia) and has developed 11 townships and nine high-rise niche developments across Malaysia, Singapore, Viet Nam, and Australia. — VNS
