The Loc Troi Group on November 15 signed an MoU with Southern Horticultural Research Institute to develop a system called “Fruit Hospitals” which will provide farmers training about fruit tree nutrition, cultivation and disease treatment.

The system will include 12 “hospitals”, including a central one, that will give assistance to farmers in central and southern regions and others in the country via mobile phone applications.

The system will include 57 agricultural experts, including professionals from the institute and Loc Troi Group's agricultural engineers who have been trained by institute experts.

Huynh Van Thon, chairman and general director of Loc Troi Group, said: “The system will provide the best agricultural services so that farmers can raise their profits.”

Dr Nguyen Van Hoa, the institute’s deputy director, said they would first focus on helping farmers in the Mekong Delta in cultivation and nutrition, and ways to treat disease among five kinds of fruit trees, including mango, durian and blue dragon, and citrus fruits such as oranges and tangerines. — VNS
