Digiworld Corporation (DGW)'s revenue is estimated at VND4.8 trillion (US$208.7 million) in the second quarter of this year, a year-on-year growth of 14 per cent.
In recent comments, Doan Hong Viet, DGW chairman, said that the company recorded good growth in the second quarter of this year despite a clear decline in market demand.
Correspondingly, profit after tax is estimated at VND140 billion, up 20 per cent compared to last year's period.
In the revenue structure, the mobile phone segment continues to make the main contribution with VND2.64 trillion, accounting for 55 per cent of total revenue.
The laptop segment recorded VND1.1 trillion, accounting for 23 per cent of total revenue and office equipment reached VND957 billion, accounting for 20 per cent of total revenue.
In the first six months, DGW achieved VND11.8 trillion in revenue and VND351 billion in profit, up 28 per cent and 58 per cent, respectively, year-on-year.
The laptop segment reached VND3.36 trillion, up 24 per cent; the mobile phone segment reached VND6.52 trillion, up 31 per cent; and office equipment reached VND1.76 trillion, up 28 per cent.
Viet said that during the period, the consumption trend of electronic products had fallen, especially for laptops.
The reason was that people focused on entertainment tourism more than buying laptops or electronic products, said Viet.
However, he said that entering the third quarter, when market demand returns, the growth potential would also be higher.
DGW plans to develop more food and beverage (F&B) and industrial equipment in the second half of the year.
Viet revealed that the F&B segment would probably start in the second half of the fourth quarter of this year, and the industrial equipment segment would be next year. — VNS
