HCM City (Biz Hub) — The Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company of Viet Nam won the Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the Asia Insurance Industry Awards 2015, organised by Asia Insurance Review Magazine.
Dai-ichi Life has been honoured for its significant community project, called "Million bricks for a happy life," that involves the construction of 10 bridges in the rural areas of Viet Nam for the safety and travel convenience of the local people.
"We are extremely proud of being the only life insurance company in Viet Nam and in Asia to win such a prestigious industry award in Asia for the second time," Takashi Fujii, chairman of Dai-ichi Life Viet Nam, said.
Initiated in 2014, the "Million bricks for a happy life" project has provided VNĐ1 billion (US$45,000) for the construction of 10 concrete bridges that benefit more than 20,000 people, especially rural children in provinces such as Tuyên Quang, Lào Cai, Quảng Binh and Gia Lai, besides Hậu Giang, An Giang and Binh Phước.
In 2013, Dai-ichi Life was nominated for the CSR Award for the first time by Asia Insurance Review for its "For a better life" project that aimed to provide clean water to more than 18,000 pupils in the rural provinces of Viet Nam.
After eight years of operations in Viet Nam, the company currently is among the country's top five life insurance companies in terms of total premium market share, serving more than one million Vietnamese customers with the help of nearly 700 staff and 46,000 financial consultants. — VNS
