CJ Vietnam Group donated VND6.49 billion (nearly US$280,000) to the national COVID-19 Vaccine Fund during a ceremony in Ha Noi late last week.

In his speech at the event, Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc spoke highly of the social contribution activities carried out by CJ Vietnam Group and its affiliates for Vietnamese people.

He said that amid the resurgence of COVID-19 in Viet Nam, the support of domestic and foreign enterprises is extremely important to help the country beat the pandemic, effectively implementing the Vietnamese Government's dual goal, which is both to fight the pandemic and to develop the economy.

Chairman of CJ Vietnam Group Chang Bok Sang said many of the group's member companies were also heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic so the group hoped that these small contributions would partly reduce the burden on the State budget, support the Government to accelerate vaccination progress reaching a large number of people so that businesses would soon return to normal activities in order to develop the country's economy.

South Korean CJ Group has specilised in many business areas in Viet Nam such as foods and food services, fresh bakery and coffee, bio, logistics, cinema, film production, entire 3F value-chain including animal feed, farming, and end-consumer products.

By the end of 2020, CJ Group has invested about $880 million in Viet Nam. — VNS
