Healthcare capability enhancement and dental care programmes have been implemented in Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces at a total cost of US$35,000, funded by ExxonMobil through Operation Smile Vietnam (OSV) and VinaCapital Foundation (VCF).

ExxonMobil said the programmes were part of its long-term plan in 2022, and it had contributed $10,000 to OSV to provide dental care, oral check-ups, appropriate consultations and follow-up treatments for 1,533 children from five schools in Ly Son islands and Binh Son District.

Through VCF’s Survive to Thrive programme, ExxonMobil also sponsored 17 pieces of essential, state-of-the-art neonatal care medical equipment and 2-day intensive training in neonatal emergency resuscitation for doctors and nurses at two rural medical centres of Dong Giang and Tay Giang districts in Quang Nam Province. The contribution, valued at more than $25,000, helped fully equip the neonatal units of the two medical centres and provide related training for their medical workers to reduce child mortality and minimise the need for referrals to distant higher-level hospitals amongst these ethnic minority communities.

Cecile Rauline, President and General Director of ExxonMobil Viet Nam, said: “When it comes to community development initiatives in Viet Nam, children’s well-being is always top of mind for us.”

“We, therefore, seek trusted partners and programmes with a shared vision to bring the utmost benefits to these vulnerable members of society. We honoured the strong relationship we have built over a decade now with our local partners of Operation Smile Viet Nam and VinaCapital Foundation. Together, we have been creating profound impacts and life-changing experiences in the communities where ExxonMobil Viet Nam operates”.

The year 2022 also marks the 7th time ExxonMobil Viet Nam has been honoured by the American Chamber of Commerce Ha Noi with its prestigious Corporate Social Responsibility Recognition Award since its inception in 2015. The award recognises the team’s outstanding contributions to promoting education and healthcare and its efforts to help improve the quality of life of the local communities. — VNS
