Central Retail Vietnam signed a memorandum of understanding with the College of Foreign Economic Relations under the Ministry of Industry and Trade in HCM City on May 3 for collaboration in retail human resources training.

It aims to concretise an agreement for 2022-25 which the ministry and Central Retail signed in 2022.

They will jointly build a relationship based on leveraging their strengths and capabilities.

The cooperation will also include organising conferences, seminars, forums, consultations, training, recruitment, and utilising labour.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Bùi Nguyễn Anh Tuấn, deputy director of the ministry’s domestic market department, said: "Improving the quality of human resources in the field of distribution and retail towards professionalism and meeting the increasingly high requirements of domestic economic and commercial development and integration with international trade is a key task in the development of the domestic market."

Olivier Langlet, CEO of Central Retail Vietnam, expressed happiness about the collaboration with COFER, which would take in 10,000 students yearly.

“MOIT, and COFER have the shared purpose to bring reality to the knowledge that young students acquire from school, and Central is ready to help.

“In Việt Nam, we are the leader in food retail - hyper segment. I’m proud of the team that we have built in the last 11 years - a strong Vietnamese team and experts coming from around the world. This team … has … accumulated 1,200 years of knowledge to help students in COFER.

“We hope that today's cooperation will contribute to the sustainable development of human resources for Việt Nam's retail industry.”

Lê Ngọc Trung, principal of COFER, said co-operating with businesses is one of the college’s important strategies, one with great significance for students. — VNS
