Cement giants to merge

HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Holcim Viet Nam has announced that it will merge with Lafarge Viet Nam as part of their international merger.

Lafarge Viet Nam is Holcim Viet Nam's subsidiary.

Holcim Viet Nam expects the conditions to complete its merger with Lafarge Viet Nam in December.

The new company will work towards creating the highest performing firm in the building materials industry in the country, Nguyen cong Minh Bao, Sustainable Development Director of Holcim Viet Nam, said.

Holcim Viet Nam has 1,300 employers working at five factories and mills. Its annual capacity is 5.2 million tonnes of cement and 1 million cubic metres of concrete.

Swiss-based Holcim and Paris-based Lafarge, the world's two largest cement manufacturers, officially launched the new Group worldwide on July 15. The new company is expected to have nearly $40 billion in annual sales. It has a presence in 90 countries and more than 115,000 employees. — VNS
