The Ha Noi-based Bao Viet Securities Joint Stock Company (BVSC) was named the best mergers and acquisition (M&A) advisory firm for the two periods 2009-18 and 2017-18 on Thursday.

The awards were given at the “Vietnam M&A Forum 2018: New thrust, new era” conference to recognise the firm’s efforts and contributions to the Vietnamese M&A market during the last 10 years.

“The awards are acknowledgements of BVSC’s efforts as an advisory firm for dozens of M&A deals in the past 10 years, including those that have been considered the best deals at annual M&A forums,” said BVSC general director Nhu Dinh Hoa.

Among those deals were the merger between Vincom and Vinpearl, between Bien Hoa Sugar JSC and Thanh Thanh Cong Tay Ninh Sugar JSC, and the US$5 billion sale of State shares at Sai Gon Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Corporation, he said.

“BVSC must make greater efforts not only to hold on to its current position among all securities firms but also offer more added value for customers and help strengthen the securities market.”

This year’s M&A forum marked the 10th anniversary of the development of the Vietnamese M&A market. There have been more than 4,000 M&A deals in Viet Nam in the last 10 years with total value of $48.8 billion.

In 2017 alone, the value of Vietnamese M&A deals reached $10.2 billion. In the first six months of 2018, the figure stood at $3.55 billion.

The forum was an opportunity for domestic and foreign financial-banking specialists and experts to hold insightful discussions on Viet Nam’s M&A market. The forum also honoured the decade’s best 100 M&A deals and advisory firms.

BVSC was founded in 1999 and has emerged as one of the country’s top brokerage firms. It provides professional finance and investment products and services for all domestic and foreign investors. — VNS
