After more than ten years in the Vietnamese market, AEON continues to expand, including with a new superstore to open in Hà Nội by year end.
After more than 10 years in the Vietnamese market, AEON continues to expand its business and reinforce its position in Việt Nam, the AEON Group’s second key market, after Japan.
With a total investment exceeding US$$1.5 billion, AEON has implemented strategies to diversify retail models to adapt to the evolving needs and behaviours of Vietnamese consumers.
In 2024, AEON Vietnam, the company responsible for the group’s general retail operations in Việt Nam, plans to open a total of four General Merchandise Stores and Supermarkets (GMS).
Previously, AEON Vietnam introduced a super-supermarket model located outside of AEON shopping malls, focusing primarily on food products. Also located outside of AEON shopping malls, AEON Tạ Quang Bửu is a full-scale General Merchandise Store and Supermarket with a total area of nearly 7,000 square metres, spanning two floors and offering a variety of products, from food and fashion to home furnishings.
Member of Executive Board of AEON Group (Japan) responsible for the Vietnamese market and General Director of AEON Vietnam, Furusawa Yasuyuki, said: "AEON will accelerate the expansion of its network and open new business locations, thereby increasing 'touchpoints' with customers. Through expanding our business system, AEON will not only contribute to the development of Việt Nam’s commercial infrastructure but also promote the consumption of Vietnamese products through AEON's distribution and retail network."
By the end of 2024, AEON Vietnam plans to open AEON Xuân Thủy in Hà Nội again on the scale of the newer supermarket model.
“AEON Vietnam is actively seeking suitable locations and partnership opportunities with real estate developers in Vietnam to establish retail models within their buildings and shopping centres.
"AEON’s long-term goal is to create more touchpoints with consumers while meeting modern consumption trends, contributing to the socio-economic development of local communities, and fostering a sustainable and prosperous life for people in areas where AEON operates,” said Yasuyuki. — VNS
