HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Viet Nam Internet Network Information Centre (VNNIC) announced that it would remove inactive Vietnamese domain names as instructed by the Ministry of Information and Communications.
There are 977,684 total Vietnamese domain names, with active domain names accounting for only 23 per cent of the total, according to VNNIC.
The centre will purify and free domain names which were registered but have not been used so that other subcribers can re-register.
To promote Vietnamese domain names, the centre has provided services including Web Redirect, Web Template, DNS Hosting and DNS Delegate.
The centre also allowed subcribers to register and extend the validity of their Vietnamese domain names online and free of charge at tenmientiengviet.vn from May last year.
The centre had deactivated nearly 200,000 unused Vietnamese domain names by the end of last year. — VNS
