VIENTIANE — Vietnam Airlines (VNA) and Lao Airlines have marked a significant step in strengthening aviation ties between Vietnam and Laos by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The two inked the formal partnership on Thursday, during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Laos.

Under the MoU, VNA will provide technical services for Lao Airlines' Airbus A320/321 fleet at Wattay International Airport (Vientiane) and Luang Prabang.

This support is contingent on Lao Airlines meeting necessary service certification requirements.

The two airlines have also agreed to collaborate in cargo transportation services at Wattay Airport, with this partnership becoming active once Lao Airlines establishes a dedicated cargo service company.

It aims to strengthen logistics and aviation trade networks across the region. The MoU includes provisions for training and experience exchange programmes between the two airlines, which will offer opportunities for pilots, aircraft maintenance engineers and flight attendants. — VNS
