Vinacomin exceeds coal production targets in H1

In the third quarter, Vinacomin is expected to face increased operational challenges due to forecasts of prolonged heavy rainfall, which may disrupt coal and mineral mining activities. At the same time, a decline in coal demand for power generation is projected to put further pressure on coal consumption, making market conditions more difficult than in the earlier months of the year.

HÀ NỘI — The Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin) reported a strong performance in the first half of 2025, producing over 21 million tonnes of raw coal - a 3.2 per cent increase year-on-year and fulfilling 55.4 per cent of its annual production target.

In June alone, the State-owned mining giant turned out 3.24 million tonnes of raw coal, surpassing its monthly target by 4.6 per cent.

Vinacomin’s revenue in June was estimated at VNĐ13.75 trillion, bringing total revenue for the first six months of the year to approximately VNĐ88.19 trillion.

At the same time, a decline in coal demand for power generation is projected to put further pressure on coal consumption, making market conditions more difficult than in the earlier months of the year.

To successfully fulfill its production and business goals for June and stay on track toward annual growth targets, Vinacomin is focusing on storm and flood preparedness, maintaining steady production and maximising output. Concurrently, the firm is ensuring sufficient coal supply through continued production, import, and processing, aiming to meet market demand and secure stable coal supplies for power generation.

This month, the company aims to produce 2.6 million tonnes of raw coal with a revenue goal of VNĐ13.8 trillion. — VNS
