HA NOI ( Biz Hub) — Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc has recently welcomed nearly 200 rare animals from around the world to Phu Quoc Island in southern Viet Nam, representative of Vingroup.
The safari, which belongs to Vinpearl Resort in Long Beach, is Viet Nam's first semi-wild zoo.
It will be developed in several phases, according to investor Vingroup. The first phase covers an area of 380 ha with a total of 140 species, 2,000 animals, and 400 local and imported fish.
To prepare for the safari's launch on December 24, the group imported animals from South Africa, the US and Europe on three flights. Five more flights have yet to arrive for the first phase.
So far, twisted-horned antelopes, black-and-white ruffed lemurs, ring-tailed lemurs and giraffes have landed on the island. The individual animals will be cared for in natural, wilderness-like conditions, with experts and care systems up to international standards.
The safari is divided into two areas: an open zoo and a safari park. The zoo will be home to 100 species.
The safari park will be an open forest, home to 40 species. Without any cages, wild animals will live freely across a large area. Visitors will travel through the landscape by bus.
According to the group, the safari wasn't just built to draw in tourists. It also focuses on conservation and education.— VNS
