Siemens Vietnam will supply VinFast Manufacturing and Trading Company Limited, a subsidiary of Vingroup, with technology and spare parts for its electric buses, following two contracts inked between the two sides late last week in Ha Noi.

The deals are key in the process of building a value chain for the manufacturing of eco-friendly public transportation, says a statement from VinFast.

According to Vo Quang Hue, Deputy General Director of Vingroup in charge of the Vinfast project, the deals reflect Vinfast’s commitment to producing safe, convenient and high-quality electric buses for a green future of the Vietnamese people. It will be a pioneering solution to changing public transportation in the country. The first line of electric buses is expected to debut in late 2019.

The two deals were inked during the first Siemens Vietnam Digitalisation Day held in the capital city on the occasion of Siemens’ 25th anniversary of official presence in Viet Nam.

Also at the event, Siemens introduced and exhibited some of its latest technologies in the fields of electrification, automation and digitalisation. It also launched MindSphere – its cloud-based, open IoT operating system, in Viet Nam.

“Viet Nam is entering a very exciting time and digitalisation is an opportunity for the country to become an industrialised nation sooner,” Siemens Vietnam President and CEO Pham Thai Lai said.

Lai said Siemens was committed to supporting the country in leading the way to digital transformation. — VNS
