HÀ NỘI -- VinFast’s decision to end its battery rental policy for electric cars and motorbikes from March 1, marks a significant shift in its strategy.

By halting the battery rental model, VinFast aims to reduce customers' monthly energy costs while simplifying the overall ownership experience. The initial rental model was innovative and allowed more people to transition into electric vehicles by reducing upfront costs.

However, over time, the market has evolved and with the improvements in battery technology and the company’s warranty policies, customers have shown greater interest in purchasing vehicles with batteries outright.

To support this transition, VinFast offers attractive incentives like the continuation of the free battery charging policy until June 2027 and the option for existing customers to either stick with the current battery rental plan or purchase batteries at a discounted rate.

The free charging extension for electric car owners until December 2027 further adds value for those who choose to transition.

For electric motorbike owners, the introduction of a nationwide charging box system at authorised locations and free charging for one year is a promising step. This would make charging more accessible and further support the shift away from the rental model. - VNS
