VinES (a member of Vingroup) and Marubeni Green Power Vietnam (a fully-owned subsidiary of Marubeni Corporation) have entered into a strategic partnership to promote the adoption of battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Viet Nam on May 18.

Under the agreement, Marubeni will jointly evaluate with VinES to, invest in, install and operate BESS at multiple business locations of Vingroup’s companies to provide an energy saving solution, load balancing, and more efficient power management. The BESS can potentially be integrated with renewable energy systems to accelerate Vingroup’s transition to clean energy.

In addition, as the only BESS manufacturer in Viet Nam, VinES offers a safe, efficient and economical one-stop solution based on its giga-scale production capacity. VinES will be the manufacturer and solution provider of the BESS for Marubeni in this cooperation.

Marubeni plans to develop tens of MWh BESS systems in the first phase and expects further capacity expansion in the subsequent phases.

This innovative cooperation between VinES and Marubeni, involving the manufacturer/solution provider and the investor/operator will set an exemplar for Vietnam corporations to adopt BESS application in their operations and businesses, and to promote a commitment to clean energy transition and a sustainable future, according to the companies.

Marubeni has rich experiences in various business sectors in Viet Nam as the core market historically. In Viet Nam power sector, Marubeni has been involved in the construction and operation of a total of 12 thermal projects since the 1970s and started a business to supply renewable energy to commercial and industrial customers in 2021. — VNS
