HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — VINA Kraft Paper is spearheading the green trend for the packaging industry in Viet Nam, having attained the world-class prestigious FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Certificate.

This is the result of efforts of the company, a subsidiary of ASEAN's leading conglomerate SCG, to minimize impact on the environment by applying the 3G concept (green product, green process and green mind) and implementing an environmental friendly management system throughout the organisation.

FSC is considered to be the most rigorous, credible forest certification recognised globally. In many countries, FSC has become a compulsory qualification for wood-related manufacturers and a sought-after trademark for consumers.

Currently, in Viet Nam the compliance of environmental regulations is still a challenge. Many other markets have regulations and targets in place to minimise the environmental impact and increase recycling rates of waste from packaging.

Packaging companies therefore are under pressure to demonstrate the highest environmental credentials.

The FSC label on packaging shows that the paper and board are responsibly sourced.

"In Viet Nam, the need for forest preservation is increasing as the country is facing many environmental challenges as it develops," said general director Sangchai Wiriyaumpaiwong. — VNS
