Nearly 52 million subscribers of military-run telecommunications firm Viettel had their phone numbers switched from 11 digits to 10 digits, Viettel announced on Sunday.

The company’s 11-digit numbers beginning with 0162, 0162, 0163, 0164, 0165, 0166, 0167, 0168 and 0169 were converted to 032, 033, 034, 035, 036, 037, 038 and 039.

Phan Thanh Sang, deputy general director of Viettel Network Corporation (VTNet) said the conversion went according to plan. Service was not interrupted during the switch.

All of Viettel’s subscribers received messages with their new phone numbers.

The company will continue to support the old 11-digit numbers until November 14, 2018.

The My Viettel mobile app, which helped subscribers convert their phone numbers ahead of the switch, converted an average of 300,000 numbers a day to help a total of seven million customers. — VNS
