Viettel becomes sole sponsor of Microsoft global contest


Military-owned telecom giant Viettel was on Tuesday unveiled as the premier sponsor of the 2015 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship (MOSWC).

HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Military-owned telecom giant Viettel was on Tuesday unveiled as the premier sponsor of the 2015 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship (MOSWC).

With this the multinational company has become the first exclusive sponsor of MOSWC in the competition's 14-year history.

The company's image will appear in all events and publications at the championship this year, the group's vice president will deliver a speech at the awards ceremony on August 12 and competitors will wear outfits with the Viettel logo.

Viettel is the largest Vietnamese telecom and technology company with revenues of US$10 billion and over 90,000 employees. It has over 76 million customers in over 10 countries in Asia, Africa and the Americas.

"We believe information technology incorporated into education will help remove the gap in training and give everyone access to quality education opportunities," Tong Viet Trung, deputy director of Viettel, said.

This year MOSWC has attracted 150 competitors from 80 countries, who will demonstrate their skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint at the contest on Wednesday in Dallas, the US. — VNS
