New-age carrier Vietjet launched its latest international route connecting Nha Trang in the central province of Khanh Hoa with Busan – South Korea’s famous seaport city on Wednesday.

Vietjet is the first carrier to operate the direct route between the two destinations, marking the airline’s ninth service between Viet Nam and South Korea.

"The new route is expected to meet the increasing demand of air travel of local people and international travelers between the two countries and across the region," Vietjet said in a statement.

The Nha Trang-Busan route operates four return flights per week with a flight time of around four hours and 40 minutes per leg. The flight departs from Nha Trang at 11.50pm and arrives in Busan at 6.30am. The return flight takes off from Busan at 8.05am and lands in Nha Trang at 10.45am (all local time).

As a bustling seaport city and the second biggest city in Korea, Busan does not only own attractive entertainment and shopping spots as well as famous seafood markets but also offers exciting sightseeing experiences with its signature architecture reflected through buildings, temples and museums.

Nha Trang has become a popular beach spot in Viet Nam, luring travellers with its long beaches, famous bays, rich cuisine and friendly people.

South Korea has emerged as a promising tourism market for Khanh Hoa Province with Nha Trang being the most popular destination.

The province welcomed nearly 83,300 South Korean holiday makers in 2018, 100 per cent higher than the previous year's figure, statistics from the provincial Department of Tourism showed.

Up to 28,000 South Korean visitors traveled to the locality in the past two months of 2019, nearly triple that of last year's corresponding period, according to the data.

Earlier in March, Vietjet was honoured as the best service foreign low-cost carrier at the Korea Prestige Brand Awards 2019, hosted by Korea Economic Daily newspaper which proved the trust of Korean customers towards the brand. — VNS
