HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — VietJet welcomed the latest member of its expanding family of Airbus planes at Tan Son Nhat International Airport on February 12.
The new Airbus A320 (code VN-A659) is the third plane from an order of 100 aircraft that the French aviation group will deliver to VietJet. The arrival of the new plane takes VietJet's fleet to a total of 21 aircraft.
The single-aisle plane is the best-selling aircraft around the world as a result of its modern and advanced technology, which helps airlines to reduce fuel consumption and lower operational costs.
VietJet said that the expanded fleet will enable it to handle the rising passenger numbers during the forthcoming Lunar New Year holiday.
The airline will send another A320 to Thailand by the end of March, so that the Thai-VietJet joint venture can operate its first domestic flights in Thailand to handle the passenger rush during the Songkran festival.
During that period, the Thai-VietJet joint venture will operate domestic flights from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok to Phuket, Udon Thani and Krabi as well as international flights between Bangkok and Ha Noi or HCM City. — VNS
