VIENTIANE (Biz Hub) — The Unitel network of Star Telecom Joint Venture Company is leading the telecom market in Laos with 2.3 million subscribers, accounting for 49 per cent of the market share.
Unitel was one of the three largest taxpayers in the country in 2013.
Speaking at the fifth anniversary of its operations in Vientiane on October 16, Unitel General Director Hoang Van Luan said that the company will maintain its current growth rate. He added that it will also increase investment in technology to provide telecom services of the best quality in Laos.
Unitel has 3,000 base transceiver stations in 17 cities and provinces and a wide distribution channel with more than 100 stores.
