Unilever has donated antibacterial soap and antiseptic solutions worth VND3 billion to 1,000 of Viet Nam’s schools and hospitals at high risk of coronavirus (COVID-19) to fight the epidemic, said Do Thai Vuong, Unilever’s Vice President, Sustainable Business & Communication.

The donated items include Lifebuoy soap for individuals to wash their hands, as well as VIM and CIF for disinfection of schools and hospitals.

This week the company also donated hundreds of items to Government employees and offices in Ha Noi and HCM City to help improve hygiene, Vuong said.

Nguyen Thi Hoa from Vinh Phuc's Son Loi Village said people in the village expressed thanks to Unilever for their soaps and other items. "It helps us a lot in fighting the virus," she said.

Unilever has already helped the Ministries of Health; Education and Training; and Agriculture and Rural Development as well as other relevant agencies to promote communities’ awareness on how to fight the epidemic through posters, videos and hand-washing stations at public places, Vuong said.

“We hope to help reduce the impact of the virus on local people and their communities,” he said.

Since 2010 Unilever Viet Nam has co-operated with the Ministry of Health to launch a project ‘For the Health of Viet Nam’, in which it pledged to help more than 20 million Vietnamese to improve their health.

The company has also co-ordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to build a New Rural Area Project and a programme with the Ministry of Education and Training to build a Green-Clean and Health School. — VNS
