Thai Tourism Authority, AirAsia kick off shopping promotion


The Tourism Authority of Thailand and budget carrier AirAsia are organising the Green Season campaign to stimulate travel to Thailand by offering privileges for guests in the "Thailand Shopping Paradise with AirAsia" programme.

HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — The Tourism Authority of Thailand and budget carrier AirAsia are organising the Green Season campaign to stimulate travel to Thailand by offering privileges for guests in the "Thailand Shopping Paradise with AirAsia" programme.

The campaign features a series of events in Viet Nam, Myanmar and China, starting with HCM City's Crescent Mall on June 4-5.

Wiboon Nimitrwanich of TAT said: "The cooperation between TAT and AirAsia as well as leading department stores and other partners will result in a high value travel and shopping experience in Thailand."

Pornpun Ratanapitakkul, Indochina Marketing Manager of AirAsia, said: "AirAsia has also partnered with various products, entertainment and tourism services in order to bring fantastic Thai products to the Vietnamese with special discounts and privileges."

Also at Crescent Mall, AirAsia is offering one-way tickets from HCM City to Bangkok, starting from VND211,000 (US$9.46) and a 20 per cent discount on any of Thailand's domestic routes, including Phuket, Krabi, Chiang Mai and Hatyai on June 4-5. The fares are for travel from June 4 to September 30.

According to the Thai Consulate General in HCM City, Viet Nam is one of several countries sending the largest number of tourists to Thailand.

AirAsia flies three times daily from HCM City to Bangkok and once daily from Ha Noi. — VNS
