Four new Cargill Cares schools to provide improved educational facilities for nearly 400 students in some of Việt Nam’s most disadvantaged northern regions have been opened, Cargill announced on May 12.
US agricultural company Cargill has built the 114th school under its flagship Cargill Cares programme in Việt Nam in the northern mountainous province of Tuyên Quang.
Cargill Cares Council has rebuilt a school to the mountainous commune of Huc in Quang Tri Province’s Huong Hoa District, its 88th school in Viet Nam under its rural school-building programme.
Cargill Cares Council, Cargill Incorporated’s international charity fund raiser, has mobilised over VND6 billion (US$261,300) in June for community projects in Viet Nam’s poor rural areas.
Cargill has opened a kindergarten in Ba Tang Commune, Quang Tri Province’s Huong Hoa District, the 87th in the Cargill Cares school programme that provides pre-school education for children.
Cargill Cares fund raising events in Viet Nam this month raised VND7 billion (US$307,000) from individuals and organisations to advance Cargill’s school building programme in the country.
