The Ministry of Finance has proposed to increase import tax on complete built-up units (CBUs) of trucks weighing more than 45 tonnes from the current zero to 10 per cent.
Viet Nam imported 125,663 completely built-up units (CBUs) in 2015,
worth more than US$2.98 trillion, marking a 77 per cent and 89 per cent
year-on-year increase in quantity and value.
The domestic automobile industry faces the risk of collapse, with both
consumers and manufacturers shifting to imports, according to the Tuoi
tre (Youth) newspaper.
About 7,000 completely-built units (CBU) were imported in September this
year, bringing US$132 million in revenue, reported the General
Statistics Office (GSO).
The number of imported cars in the first two months of this year
increased sharply in terms of value and volume, according to the General
Office of Statistics (GSO).
