ĐẮK LẮK — The inauguration ceremony of the Point 3 branch, Hoàng Diệu Primary School in Vụ Bổn Commune, Krông Pắk district, Đắk Lắk Province, sponsored by Syngenta Vietnam Company, took place on January 3.

In addition to Hoàng Diệu Primary School, the Phiêng Khàng - Phiêng Pằn Kindergarten point and eight houses will also be donated by Syngenta in January 2025 in the provinces of Nghệ An, Đắk Lắk, Sơn La and Lào Cai with a total budget of over VNĐ1 billion (US$ 40,000).

On this occasion, Syngenta also presented 600 coats, one hundred school bags and learning tools for students, along with 250 Tết gifts for farmers in difficult circumstances in local areas with a total value of over VNĐ250 million.

Located over 30km from the centre of Krông Pắk District, Hoàng Diệu Primary School has a majority of students from ethnic minority groups, with many families facing economic hardships. The new school, worth VNĐ300 million, replacing the temporary tin-roofed classrooms, is a significant joy for teachers, students and residents.

The activities are part of the 'Houses for Farmers', launched by Syngenta Vietnam in 2010 to provide adequate shelter for poor farmers in Việt Nam. The company works with local authorities every year, to identify those farmers who need sturdier homes and help to rebuild them.

The company also advises these beneficiaries on improving their farming practices to increase income and escape poverty. To date, this programme has donated 170 houses to poor farmers in 40 provinces nationwide.

In addition, Syngenta also has many comprehensive and sustainable support activities for farmers, such as imparting agricultural knowledge and technological advancements and promoting crop conversion to help them improve productivity and improve their incomes. — VNS
