SOTB (Silicon on Thin Buried Oxide), an advanced technology used to design and manufacturing chips, will be used to develop an integrated circuit chip industry in HCM City.
HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — SOTB (Silicon on Thin Buried Oxide), an advanced technology used to design and manufacturing chips, will be used to develop an integrated circuit chip industry in HCM City, heard a seminar held by the HCM City People's Committee on Saturday
The SOTB, which helps to sharply reduce power consumption for chips, has been developed in Japan, the US, France and other developed countries.
"SOTP will be one of the major technologies used to develop HCM City's programme on integrated circuits and will help turn Viet Nam into one of the leading countries that designs and manufactures chips," said a press release from the Viet Nam National University Integrated Circuit Design Research and Education Centre (ICDREC).
During the seminar, ICDREC announced an agreement signed with the Japanese company Reresas on cooperation to develop SOTB in the areas of training, technology transfer, and experimental manufacturing in Viet Nam.
The agreement is considered a major step in the development of the country's integrated circuit industry. — VNS
