Six PNJ artisans conferred jewellery sector honours


Nine outstanding jewellery craftspeople were honoured with the ‘Meritorious Artisan’ title at a ceremony held in Ha Noi on Tuesday.

Nine outstanding jewellery craftspeople were honoured with the ‘Meritorious Artisan’ title at a ceremony held in Ha Noi on Tuesday.

Six of them were from Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company: Nguyen Duy Hung, 53, Mai Anh Thi, 53, Tran Ngoc Ngan Vu, 51, Phan Van Tien, 66, Pham Bao Phat, 67, and Nguyen Tien Hoang, 45.

Speaking at the event, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh said, “The honoured artisans are those who have inherited and preserved the quintessence of traditional handicrafts, always make every effort to foster the development of the profession and create new works with high economic, technical and aesthetic value to satisfy various demands in the market.

“They have made considerable contributions to bringing delicate handmade made-in-Viet Nam objects to the world, making the country among the top three exporters of handicraft and fine art objects.

“Many products from handicraft villages have been chosen by the Government as souvenirs for heads of states when they visit Viet Nam.”

Huynh Van Tan, PNJ’s communications and corporate affairs director, said in his company “artisans, in addition to their traditional workmanship, also use new technology and equipment to create sophisticated products to achieve high aesthetic and commercial value.” — VNS
