Samsung's contest to improve students' computer skills

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Samsung Viet Nam Mobile R&D Centre (SVMC) kicked off its first large scale computer programme for students, which attracted 1,000 participants last week.

The contest, called "Samsung Software Challenge 2016," was an opportunity for students who love programming to practice, compete and understand the vital role of algorithms in programming.

Universities can also use the contest results to evaluate studentss programming capabilities as well as the level the human resources in software programming. Students can register online via the official website at https://www.samsungcontest.com.vn/  no later than October 25.

"Samsung Software Challenge 2016" contestants will take a test on algorithms and programming skills on computers (using 1 of 3 programming languages: C/C++/Java) in Vietnamese language.

The total prize for the competition is VND500 million. Additionally, there will be also three recognition awards for individuals: most promising student, student leadership award, and outstanding female student award. Each of these award winners will receive a Gear Fit 2.

Samsung hopes to encourage Vietnamese students to actively equip themselves with programming skills, creativity, logical thinking and problem solving, especially the applyication of algorithms and programming to address practical problems in real life. Students can also review their own capabilities and how much they meet recruiters' criteria for software programmers.— VNS
