Samsung unveils Galaxy S7, S7 Edge

HCM CITY (Biz Hub) —  Samsung on Sunday launched the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smart phones, which it said feature an evolved design, improved cameras, faster performance and longer battery life, among other features.

The highlights include a 12MP camera, a microSD card slot, IP68 water-resistant rating, and fast wireless and wired charging.

The phones run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Samsungs TouchWiz interface.

The S7 will come in black and gold options, and the S7 Edge in black, gold, or silver.

In China and India, the worlds largest smart phone markets, the S7 will be prices at 5,000 yuan (US$766) and 53,000 rupees ($772), and the Edge at 5,780 yuan and 60,000 rupees, according to igalaxysS7.com.

Samsung also unveiled a new camera, the Gear 360, alongside the S7s. With this standalone device, users can capture a 360-degree view as a photo or video and play it back within Samsungs Gear VR headset.

The Gear 360 allows photos of up to 30 megapixels and supports "90 percent of 4K" for the whole sphere when capturing video at high resolution (3840×1920).
