HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Samsung Vina Electronics in partnership with the Medic Medical Centre (MMC) and Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine in HCM City on Friday launched the SONO School, which will offer free courses in ultrasound diagnostic skills.

Located at the MMC in District 10 and equipped with Samsung's latest ultrasound devices with 5D technology, the Samsung SONO School will provide doctors and medical practitioners with theory and practical training in ultrasound technology.

Funded by Samsung, it will run three courses a year, offering free training for about 150 doctors.

In addition, patients at MMC with therapeutic ultrasound prescriptions from doctors will receive free diagnoses.

Nguyen Van Dao, vice president of Samsung Vina Electronics, said: "Samsung SONO School aims to provide young Vietnamese doctors with ultrasound diagnostic skills via MMC's professional teaching programs and Samsung's modern equipment. In the future, this project is expected to extend to rural areas where treatment conditions are limited."

The project is one of many community programmes that Samsung has in Viet Nam.

Dr Phan Thanh Hai, MMC director, said: "With social contributions from businesses like Samsung, we are able to improve doctors' professional skills and gradually raise our standards of treatment." — VNS
