Samsung Vietnam, the Department of Foreign Affairs of Lang Son Province and Korea Food for the Hungry International (KFHI) last weekend signed a Memorandum of Understanding for implementation of the Samsung Hope School in the province’s Mai Pha Commune, Lang Son City.

This is the fourth school in the Samsung Hope School chain in Viet Nam, after Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen and Bac Giang.

Samsung Hope School project in Lang Son continues to be built with modern equipment and a synchronised system including classrooms, libraries, play areas, dining-rooms and sanitary units. Samsung Hope School will be the place to implement the “Child Development Programme (CDP)” for 300 disadvantaged students from primary to secondary schools in Lang Son.

The project has been in co-ordination with Management and Sustainable Development Institute (MSD Vietnam) to support the training of teachers before participating in teaching at the school to ensure the most perfect learning and experience environment for children.

The cost for implementing Samsung Hope School in Lang Son in 10 years is nearly VND20 billion (US$865,000), of which Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) sponsors more than VND8 billion to renovate, construct facilities, purchase equipment and the expenses for project management. The remaining cost for implementing the CDP project in the first 10 years will be mobilised from other charities, benefactors, and Samsung Vietnam.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Choi Joo Ho, President of Samsung Vietnam said: “With the philosophy “Education for the future generation”, through the Hope School project, we hope to open up opportunities for education and nurture the dreams of students, who are future generations of Lang Son Province."

Samsung Hope School is one of many key social responsibility projects with the mission to spread knowledge, share vision and build a future for Vietnamese young generation. The project is expected to contribute to improving living and learning conditions for disadvantaged and poor students; thereby contributing to the development of local education, especially education in primary and secondary schools. — VNS
