Saigon Union of Trading Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op), owner of the Co.opmart supermarket chains and Viet Nam’s leading consumer retailer, signed a deal with UrBox, a digital reward and loyalty platform, to digitise its gift vouchers in HCM City on Monday.

They initially will launch Co.opmart e-vouchers on the latter’s platforms, including the UrBox app.

The e-vouchers will have the same denominations as Co.opmartt paper vouchers and will be accepted at Co.opmart supermarkets, Co.opXtra hypermarkets and Finelife high-end supermarkets across the country in the initial stage.

They will later also be accepted at other Saigon Co.op retail chains, including Co.op Food, Co.op Smiles and Cheers convenience stores, its online shopping channel (www.cooponline.vn) and mobile app (Saigon Co.op).

Besides issuing e-vouchers, the two will also come up with solutions to raise the efficiency of Saigon Co.op’s loyalty service activities and diversify promotion and marketing programmes at its retail chains by utilising UrBox’s diverse gift stores and technology.

Le Truong Son, deputy general director of Saigon Co.op, said: “Saigon Co.op is fostering digital transformation in customer care through the adoption of technology and getting on board almost all cashless payment technologies available in the market.

"In 2022 Saigon Co.op embarked on digitising traditional paper vouchers into e-vouchers.

“And today Saigon Co.op co-operates with UrBox to continue to digitise gift vouchers, improve customer service quality and diversify promotions so that customers can have the best shopping experience at Saigon Co.op’s retail systems.”

Bui Hoai Nam, founder and CEO of UrBox, said: “UrBox identifies the retail market as the next priority in its business strategy. With fierce competition in the retail industry and the consumer-business trends after the COVID-19 pandemic, retaining existing customers through e-gift solutions and loyalty programmes has become more important than ever.

"UrBox hopes that the launch of the e-voucher with Saigon Co.op will … improve the customer experience and accelerate the business’ comprehensive digital transformation.” — VNS
