More than 2,000 people participated in the Cashless Day Run organised by Sacombank and Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on June 19 at Ha Noi’s Hoan Kiem Lake.
This is the fourth year that Sacombank was participating in Cashless Day and the third year it was organising the run held to promote the convenience of modern payment methods, and spread and encourage sportsmanship, physical training and healthy habits in the community.
The run was over 5 km with participants being office workers including Sacombank staff, Tuoi Tre newspaper readers and students, with each getting a t-shirt before starting the run and a medal after completing it.
Sacombank had also set up experience booths for participants to visit and try cashless payment methods such as using QR code, the Sacombank Pay app and touch payment and getting a gift of a canvas bag and a multi-brand voucher worth VND100,000.
Speaking at the event, deputy governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, Pham Thanh Ha, appreciated Sacombank for its efforts to popularise non-cash payment methods.
The Cashless Day Run that features a mass sports activity combined with spreading messages about cashless payments is an innovative communication form that makes it easy to remember the information, according to Ha.
Phan Dinh Tue, a director and deputy CEO of Sacombank, said the run was among a series of activities organised to mark the Cashless Day programme, which Sacombank had participated in since its early days as a diamond sponsor.
“We expect that, through the 2022 Cashless Day programme, the run in particular, the cashless payment concept with its outstanding convenience will be widely available to the public, especially young people and those living in rural areas.”
On the same day Sacombank and the newspaper also kicked off ‘Cashless Trip’ in Ha Noi. The buses left for Vinh, Da Nang and Nha Trang before returning to HCM City.
At each place, people can visit and explore various forms of cashless payment through games, stage activities and actual experience.
The bank is also offering promotions to foster cashless payment, including the ‘In tune with the rhythm of digital life’ promotion programme worth nearly VND15 billion for individual customers.
Under the programme, from June 1 to 30, customers will be refunded VND100,000 when making QR payments worth VND200,000 or more on Sacombank Pay and mBanking.
Those registering for Combo products and services accounts will be exempted recurring fees until December 31.
Sacombank also offers a 40 per cent discount on premiums for customers buying Liberty's international travel insurance on Sacombank Pay until August 31.
Customers can enjoy discounts, cashback and other gifts when obtaining new Sacombank cards or using them at dining and shopping places. — VNS
