Sacombank donated 72,300 doses of the 5-in-1 vaccine, also known as DRT-VGB-Hib vaccine (made in India), on Thursday to the Ministry of Health to support the national Expanded Programme on Immunisation, which will use them to vaccinate children living in disadvantaged mountainous areas.

The programme to immunise children and women has been implemented by the ministry since 1985 to protect them from dangerous and common infectious diseases.

The 5-in-1 vaccine, which protects children against diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, hepatitis B, and diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b like pneumonia and meningitis, is given thrice when babies are two, three and four months old under a routine immunisation schedule.

The vaccines donated by Sacombank will be used in 14 northern mountainous provinces under the Expanded Programme on Immunisation to vaccinate children from two months old to under one year old.

In addition to its business activities, Sacombank also undertakes meaningful community programmes with a focus on supporting the country's younger generations.

Some of its outstanding programmes are “Spring Love” during Tết each year to bring joy to disadvantaged people, “Nurture of dreams” and the “Nurturing Dreams” scholarships given each year to thousands of outstanding students who live in difficult circumstances.

Sacombank also supports the Hope Fund’s “Sun of Hope” to assist poor children’s cancer treatment, “Waves and computers for children" launched by the Prime Minister to help millions of disadvantaged children study online in provinces implementing social distancing and "Connecting arms of love" launched by the HCM Communist Youth Union Central Committee to solicit assistance for children affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

It has also created a good impression on the community with activities such as the blood donation programme "Sharing from the heart" and "Steps for the community" to raise funds to build cultural houses for ethnic minority communities. — VNS
