SABIC, the Saudi multinational chemical manufacturer, has donated over VND695 million (US$30,000) to 1,200 needy individuals in the three provinces of Hoa Binh, Gia Lai and Binh Dinh.

In Viet Nam, to address the socio-economic impact of the pandemic on those whose livelihoods have been hard hit, SABIC worked with the Viet Nam Red Cross to donate and distribute support vouchers to needy individuals in the three provinces.

These vouchers could be exchanged for food essentials and household necessities to help mitigate the financial hardship of these beneficiaries who were either elderly or had lost their jobs and income, due to the pandemic.

SABIC also worked closely alongside its Vietnamese customers at the height of the pandemic, to deliver materials in support of the local production of over 55,000 ventilators and 360,000 safety goggles, urgently needed globally on the medical frontlines.

The donation is part of its commitment to supporting people, communities and frontline workers in Asia Pacific throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

The company also implemented a range of CSR initiatives from monetary donations, distribution of food packages, relief material and protective kits to communities and frontline workers.

Across Asia Pacific, SABIC has donated over $582,000 with a focus on providing essential medical supplies and food packages. These donations included an employee donation and corporate matching campaign that was globally implemented. — VNS
