HA NOI (Biz Hub) – Piaggio Vietnam has recalled 14,291 Vespa scooters manufactured between May 13, 2013, and January 10, 2014, to check and repair possible fuel pipe defects, according to Vneconomy.

Among the recalled models, there are 9,793 LX3V ie, 2,655 Vespa S3V ie, 1,226 LXV 3V ie and 617 LT 3V ie scooters.

The Italian company says that they have found that a part of the fuel pipe in these scooters fails to meet their standards. In some extreme weather conditions, the defect may lead to fuel leakage.

All the said models will be checked and the fuel pipe replaced, if necessary, for free. The time required for checking and repairing a scooter is estimated to be between 10 and 60 minutes.

Piaggio Vietnam has also recalled the imported Vespa 946 version 2013 scooters for investigating similar faults.

Piaggio is one of the favourite scooter brands in Viet Nam, which is one of the biggest markets of the company. Over the past three years, the firm has been expanding its factory in the country and has built a Research and Development Centre.

It is expected that a major Piaggio branch will be relocated to Viet Nam from Singapore, Vneconomy added. – VNS
