The phase, to last until 2015, will support the Ministry of Transport in undertaking research, supplement and complete procedures for bus drivers, and strengthen regulations to enable transport inspectors to use breathalysers at bus stations.
It is part of efforts to try and reduce the number of traffic accidents caused by drinking and educating the public about this.
Stephane Gripon, Diageo general manager, said: "The company is not only committed to complying with all provisions of the law but also actively taking initiatives to fight alcohol abuse, especially with regard to road safety."
Nguyen Lan Huong, director of ICAP Viet Nam, said in 2011-12 Diageo had worked with his agency on the project to support Resolution 88 of the Government, which took effect in August 2011.
"In phase 1, we had promoted the ‘Never drink and drive' message and created an infrastructure to enable transport inspectors to enforce [this] at selected bus stations in Dac Lac and Khanh Hoa provinces.
